THE SCIENCE
BEHIND XANTHO

COSMECEUTICALS op basis van een hopextract rijk aan Xanthohumol

The skin is constantly exposed to oxidative stress due to UV light, pollutants, … . When the oxidative stress on the skin becomes too great, damage occurs in the skin (1,2). This results in an acceleration of the aging process, which affects the hydration and barrier function of the skin (3).

The epidermis and dermis are the skin layers most exposed to oxidative stress. It is crucial that antioxidants reach these layers if they are to exert their full effect.

Polyphenols are generally considered to be the most potent antioxidants to scavenge free radicals (4,5). Free radicals attack cell structures and membranes. Hop polyphenols, including Xanthumol, have the capacity to bind these free radicals. The antioxidant capacity of xanthohumol has been shown to be 10-20 times higher than that of quercetin and 5-6 times higher than that of resveratrol (6). Xanthohumol has been shown to be the most powerful antioxidant. Hop polyphenols have also been shown to have stronger antioxidant properties than green tea polyphenols (7).

Because of these strong antioxidant properties, xanthohumol can greatly slow down the skin aging process.

Xanthohumol also contributes to improving skin texture and firmness by inhibiting elastase and matrix metalloproteinases and by stimulating the biosynthesis of extracellular matrix components, fibrillar collagen, elastin and fibrils (8).

Xantho care products contain a hop extract rich in xanthohumol, the most powerful antioxidant from the plant world. It is extracted from the hop plant.

Thanks to our patented formulation, we have succeeded in optimizing the availability of xanthohumol to the skin (9).

Xantho care products are cosmeceuticals that contain active components that improve the appearance and structure of the skin.

Moreover, these new formulations were developed from a double perspective: KEEP IT SIMPLE and FROM A PHARMACIST POINT OF VIEW. This approach means that a limited number of well-defined additives are used. Thanks to a patented technology, the poorly water-soluble xanthohumol is made optimally available to the skin (9).
